Fundraising News
We receive small contributions from many members, often specifically in support of the magazine, and these have continued in 2021.
During the autumn, we had some outstanding fundraising efforts in our two counties.
CORNWALL
In October, St Austell member Emma Slater held a coffee morning at work. Emma's brother Marc held coffee & cake events every Friday in October at his pub, The Thirsty Farmer in Exeter, while Emma's cousin Debbie held a coffee morning at her clinic, Keheren Therapy, Truro. Another cousin, Jacqui, supplied the cakes, as did other family members.
A fantastic effort by all, which, as well as raising awareness about lupus, also raised £400 for DCLG.
DEVON
In November, DCLG Acting-Chair Niki Solomon (Plymouth) ran a half-marathon, together with good friend Sandra Purdy. They had support from Niki's brother and other family members. Over £300 was raised for DCLG and over £500 for LUPUS UK through JustGiving.
During Lockdown, Tiverton member Carolyn Gascoigne, developed a new skill! She has since made a wide variety of beautiful cards, which are being sold at Coffee & Chats and other events to raise funds for the Group.
We held raffles at our AGM in October and at our Christmas Lunch in December, raising almost £200.
Donations can be made by sending cheques (payable to 'Devon & Cornwall Lupus Group') to Treasurer Martin Elliott. If you prefer to pay directly to our bank account, please contact us for details.
Together we can strengthen the Group, allowing us to maintain support for those in our area affected by lupus.
